Cycling Through Slopes of Kilimanjaro - 4 Days

Highlight: Cycling at the base of Mount Kilimanjaro, Amazing scenery, hiking, swimming and canoeing.

Path: Paved and off road.

 

Day 01: Arrival

After your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport you’ll be transferred to your accommodation near Moshi situated on the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro. After relaxation you’ll be briefed by your expert guide about your upcoming tour and together you’ll do bike fitting.

 

If your arrival time will be in the morning or afternoon, you’ll have ample time to do a quick test ride.

Day 02: Moshi – Lake Challa

Lake Challa is a hidden gem and a perfect place to relax and unwind from the busy city life. The remote caldera lake on the border of Tanzania & Kenya is only 55Km from Moshi and therefore the perfect getaway for a day. Pure tranquility and beautiful nature await you at the lake. Explore the area on one of the  many possible hikes, swim in the crystal clear water, kayak across borders or simply enjoy stunning vistas of an untouchable Africa.

 

Early in the Morning after sunshine you’ll depart to start your ride. You’ll ride your bike to Lake Chala Safari Camp with a packed lunch and drinking water. Upon your arrival you’ll see the beautiful private game reserve overlooking the crater lake. You’ll descend down to the lake, spend the day exploring, swimming or even kayaking it’s only your option.

 

Day 03: Lake Challa – Marangu Gate

Distance: 24Km

Early in the morning after sunshine you’ll ride to Marangu gate. Marangu is at the lower slopes of Kilimanjaro. The area around Marangu is a small town with a great amount of history and ancient traditions, it’s also home to the local Chagga tribe. Immerse yourself in learning about their history and their tradition. You’ll get carried away by the Chagge tribe, unique rainforest landscape and coffee growing insides. Our next stop will be visiting a small coffee farm, where you will learn about how the coffee is grown, harvested and processed locally.

 

Once we are done enjoying the coffee break, we will depart for the Ndoro Waterfalls. Our hike to the base of the waterfall will lead us through lush green landscape and the descent takes approximately 1 hour. We will also visit the Chagga Underground Caves and the Chagga live Museum.

Day 04: Marangu – Moshi

In the morning we will start our way to moshi passing through different villages at the slopes of mount Kilimanjaro.
